The Body Shop | Bouncy Sleeping Mask

The Body Shop launched their Drops of Youth line earlier in August 2015. This range was designed to combat the first signs of ageing using the stem cell technology from Edelweiss flower. Who wouldn't like that? All you do is, put the mask on at night after cleansing and toning your face and then go to sleep with it, without washing it off. Wake up the next morning and wash your face. The concept of using overnight face masks is rather simple. It is designed to go on top of your evening skincare treatments, as a final step. It keeps your face moisturized and hydrated all through the night.

Moving on to the the actual product, the mask comes in a heavy forest-green glass jar. Not incredibly travel friendly, but since I'm using this at home it is currently placed on the dresser. Also comes with it, a small cosmetic spatula for scooping out the mask and spreading on the face. What makes this overnight mask different from the others that I have used, is it's unique texture. More like Jell-O pudding or a runny play-doh. The texture makes this product both creamy and "bouncy". It doesn't matter how much of the product is removed from the jar, the mask bounces back into shape in no time. Like it was never touched or opened.

The components of Drops of Youth Mask

My thoughts about it:
A little goes a long way. The first time you apply this, it can be a bit tacky and messy. On immediate application, this gives you a refreshing sensation. The more thicker layer you apply, the longer it takes for it to dry. Ideally for me, I put this on about 15-20 minutes before I hit the sack. Once you have cleansed and toned your face, just scoop a pea-sized amount and massage it on. Give it some time to dry on your face. Also, using a serum underneath the mask helps reduce the stickiness. I find this to be best suited for dry, dehydrated to normal skin types.

The Result:
This is incredibly moisturizing and helps make your face look more radiant in the mornings. I've been using this for over two weeks now, as a part of my night time skincare routine. For a skincare junkie, this is very similar to Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. While the latter is more suitable for combination to oily skin types, this is a better mask for those with dry skin.

How to use the mask:
I find using Dr. Terry Loong's 5-step facial massage technique very useful while applying the mask. Check out the video below to learn how to correctly use the mask.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask retails for AED 90 and you can purchase it from any of their stores across UAE.
